Fall semester 2015

Hi friends!,

(I lied... I didn't actually keep up with my promise to blog over the summer. I had lots of ideas, I promise!, but I lacked the motivation and energy to type words on the internetz for this blog. Sorry... not that many of you really cared though, right?)

With the fall semester of school already here, I thought I should definitely write a post about this! As much as I (we) tend to complain about school, at the end of the day, most of us love it and appreciate it a ton.

I don't know about you but my favorite times of the semester are the beginning and the end. (I'm also crazy about registration period... I consider it a fun puzzle game.) I always feel so much excitement when a new semester is about to start because summer vacation is honestly too long for me. I'm one of those people who feel paranoid that my brain is "rotting" if it's not engaged with academics for too long. You can only imagine how excited my inner nerd is.

I use the end of breaks as an opportunity to tidy up my work area. Like almost any other person, I work best when I'm in a relatively neat and "organized" area. Granted, my work space is still slightly cluttered and not as organized as it could/should be, I know where things are and that's all that matters.

First things first was getting rid of useless things!: I've had old notebooks and folders laying around from the past spring semester (because I never know what to do with them... throwing them away seems like such a waste of effort). I still don't know what to do with them tbh but they're just not at my desk anymore. I wiped everything down and now my desk looks relatively "tidy."

I admit I slacked on using my planner this summer... Oops. It didn't bother me too much though since I didn't neeeeeeeeeeed it. BUT! When it comes to school, I have to make sure I force myself to use it because I'm forgetful and it'll nag me to start on assignments ahead of time... or at least ON time.

Not much going on this week so far..

I'm also excited to use my new arsenal of pens!!! I'm reusing my usual favs but these colorful erasable pens will make planning little things so much more fun.

Excuse my awkward cursive.

Other school related stuff I'm excited for are OBVIOUSLY MY CLASSES. Duh. I'm most excited for my social work class! It will be held once a week in the evening and I think this will be the only class I'll actually want to make friends in since most of the students will be actually going into the social work field. I've already bought my access code + eText. I'm also taking religion, physiology, and geophysics & geology this semester.

As with everything else, I always try to set goals for myself. This semester, I hope to:
  • Keep up with the work load -- last more than half~ 3/4 of the semester without procrastinating. (I usually last up until right after midterms.)
  • Only allow myself to eat out once a week maximum -- exception being going out with friends.
  • Make da $$$ -- Christmas is just around the corner.
  • Of course try my best to get straight A's! I was one letter grade off last semester... :(
  • Finish my online assignments by the end of November.

Just a few reminders: Work hard and study lots~ Make time to socialize with friends. Don't stress out over little things. Always remember to make time for self-care, whether it's doing your nails, sleeping in a little longer, or just eating better! And make sure to keep in mind that your physical and mental health is always more important than school, no matter what your parents or anyone else says.

I hope everyone has a great semester!

Sincerely, Jenny

Introduction - Get to know me!

HELLO!

I'm glad you managed to (stumble?) across my brand new blog.

Here's a little bit about me:

  • I used to "blog" on blogspot.com when I was in middle school. My last post on that blog was on May 22nd, 2010, and I wrote about how excited I was to graduate from middle school and move onto high school. Reading some of those posts are really embarrassing and brought back a lot of memories, good and "eh." That blog is now private, its only purpose being to entertain me, haha. Here's a peek of what's on it though:

    • I was born and raised in Hawaii, constantly in town and in Aiea. I don't travel to the more rural areas often, but when I do, it certainly is a treat!

Marissa and I "giving back to the aina" somewhere at Makapu'u.

One of my favorite pictures of myself along the beach at the Turtle Bay Resort.
    • I am currently a freshman in college studying in social work (don't look at me like that... it's not always about the money, guys!), but I will always carry that McKinley Tiger Pride with me wherever I go!
Here's a picture of me on the Roosevelt High School football field right before the third quarter of the game. It was McKinley vs. Moanalua, 28-21. Whoo! P.S., I was also part of the yearbook staff during my senior year, a very fun experience.

A group picture of me and (what used to be) the best lunch table: Donny, Kelly, myself, Lily, Katherine, Melissa, Jennifer, and Jia Yu.

A picture of me after our second commencement ceremony (lol) in front of the McKinley statue.

And a cute group pic: Donny, Kelly, Victor, myself, Jenny, and Jennifer.

    • I currently work part-time as an impact (stock) at abercrombie kids at my local mall. The company isn't amazing, but the company is. (Hahaha, did you see what I did there?) Here are some pictures of the people who make work so fun for me!

After-work group selfie with Ezana, Jordan, Mel Bryan, Megan, Sopi, Jaeden, Alyssa, and myself.

Two of my favorite managers ever: Mel Bryan and Jordan.

Spent Valentine's Day together... like true baes are supposed to. Pictured: Ezana, Sopi, Alyssa (best SM), Camille, Clark, and myself.

Alyssa's last day was a happy, but very sad, day. Group selfie with Bronson, Kristine, Megan, Momoka, Roxanne, Jordan, Camille, Alyssa, Alayna, and myself.

    • Like most people do, I love spending time with my friends when I'm not studying (more like pretending to study...) or working. I always seem to forget exactly how many wonderful friends I have so picking out pictures for this section takes a little more time.
Just finished lunch -- Jennifer, Victor, Kelly, and myself.

A quick pic under the "pier" (?) with the most amazing girls you'll ever meet: Marissa, Naomi, myself, and Erica.

A festive selfie with Anne. I really wanted those reindeer antlers.

A goofy picture of Arslan, Jenny, Jason, myself, and Jantzen at our senior prom. (Just realized all our names start with a J except for Arslan! Dang it, Arslan...)

My favorite group picture from my senior prom -- Momoka, myself, Kaily, and Hayley.

A picture of Verlyn, Kelli, (supa cool performer) Aoyama Ikuhiko, Janie, and myself.

I don't have many pictures with John Rhyan, my bfffff, so might as well pick one where I look totemo kawaii, right?

... And many more! But I am much too lazy to search through my tumblr (bitsofjenny.tumblr.com -- follow me? I try to post daily and I have a constant queue of reblogs)

    • In addition to my work, school, and friends: the most important thing to me is family! I don't have many pictures to share of me and my human family, but my furry babies mean the world to me.
I have two babies at the moment: their names are Kiko (1 year, 5 months) and Kuma (just over two months).

In addition to these lovely fur babies, I've also had two previous babies who've moved on to a better place: Fuzzy (9 years) and Tiger (13-14 years) -- RIP

I don't have too many pictures of Fuzzy, as we got him when I was born in 1996 and I, personally, could not/was not allowed operate a camera, but I definitely will update this post when I get a hold of pictures of my very first first baby.

Rest in peace, my lovelies. I hope you're doing amazing up there. I love and miss you.

    • And finally (?), just wanted to bring up my significant other and very, very best friend: Clark. I refer to him as Banunu and some other cheesy names. We've been "together" since October of 2013 (just over a year and a half as of right now). He is currently a pre-nursing major and is probably the most frustrating guy (in a fun way, if that's possible?) I know. They say opposites attract, but similarities are what keeps the relationship going! We're quite different from each other -- that's what makes the relationship exciting, I feel like, but it's our similarities that really makes us work.

... Now, as to why I created this blog...
    • I wanted a blog that was truly my own. While I love and adore using my tumblr, I don't see it as a blog as much as another form of social media. While people use Pinterest and Reddit, I use tumblr. Make sense?
    • I love to read reviews and I also love writing them. I hope my reviews help, or at least kind of entertain/inform, others!
Those are the two main reasons for the purpose of this blog and this concludes  this "quick" about-me post. I hope to make a blog post at least once a week, if not more! I plan on really *starting* on this blog later this week, after I get through with some schoolwork. I will be posting about food, beauty, lifestyle, etc., and "reviewing" them, sharing my thoughts, comments, and concerns.

Feel free to follow/contact me via social networks:
    • Twitter: ayeeJennay (public, I usually follow back)
    • Tumblr: bitsofjenny (I usually follow back, ask box is always open! I reply quick)
    • Instagram: jennyjmgao (private, but I approve almost all requests and usually follow back)
